An Economic Alternative

One of the keys to the success of NYF's indentured daughters program, was making sure the families who were selling their daughters had an economic alternative.  NYF gave the poor Tahru families piglets or goats to raise, and asked that they put their daughter back in school.  At the end of the year, the family could sell the animal for the same abount of money they would have recieved for their daughter's labor.
