Sita was one of the first girls NYF rescued in 2000, the first year of the Indentured Daughters Program. With the piglet her family received by agreeing to keep her home and send her to school, she has grown her “farm” to include a sow and more baby piglets. She took out a 35,000 rupee loan from the Freed Kamlari CO-OP and used it to purchase another sow – about 4,150 rupees. To grow her business, Sita needs more land for her pigs. She hopes the government will help. She is also a very skilled dancer.
